How To Wear a Tweed Skirt and Rock It!

La Pink Chambre's Fashion Tip of the week

Do you ever fall in love with something while you are shopping, but think, “gosh, this is beautiful, but how would I wear this?  The secret is that it is all about thinking outside of the box while playing up on the textures, patterns, and colors of the garment.

When you look at the skirt, what do you see- when you look at the shoes, what do you see? I see a beautiful skirt with heavy material made of tweed texture with dark muted tones and gold thread.

The shoe becomes the ”secret” to bring the outfit together while giving it a “Parisian Style”. First, you need a shoe that is chunky versus dainty; otherwise the skirt will be unbalanced. This shoe is a classic Spectator or “Capped” pump, with a chunky heel. Next, gold chains and pearls add detail to the chunky shoe. Think of the chains and pearls as “texture” that will complement the tweed in the skirt. Finally, the affect of color… the skirt has dark muted tones, and an all navy or black shoe would be too much and boring. A neutral muted tone is still an excellent choice, however, you want something that is in the lighter tone. One possibility is a shoe with taupe, black, with gold to accent.

One of the reasons that  I would choose this shoe is because of the “focal point” of the embellishments.  Sure, the shoe is beautiful without the pearls and chains, but the “Chanel look” gives the skirt an entirely different personality. The chunky hardware balances the heavy tweed and texture. And my favorite, the gold chains bring out the gold thread in the tweed.

Hope that you enjoyed the tip of the week ☺ Today’s lesson is one that will get you through anything –

Do you have clothes in your closet that you never wear because you get "stuck"with trying to figure out what to pair it with? Be creative and I bet that you will find something in your closet that will change the personia of your outfit. Remember, to think balance, color, and focal point. tep into the unknown and see what you come up with ☺

Feel free to share your ideas! ☺ Merci!

Short Waisted? Here are some tips for yah!

Bon Jour Madmoiselles!

I was shopping today at Old Navy, and enjoying the 40% off Clearance Sale (YOU HAVE TO GO - Embellished Tanks only $2.99!). I love tank tops, but as I was looking, I know that the "Longer Tank with a Busier Pattern ", sometimes just doesn't work for a "short waisted" girl.. So I tend to buy the simple tanks with the length that isn't too short or long, with minimal design. But today, I bought three; the secret - more embellishment on top versus all over.  :)

There are times that I envy the "longer torso" because everything that I cannot wear looks SO GOOD .  Like yesterday, I was at TJ MAXX, and saw the most beautiful Robin Egg Blue, soft, feminine, leather jacket (only $29.99).  I was so disappointed! It  did not look good on me at all! It  swallowed me.. Darn, if I only had two more inches of a torso!

Maybe this explains my shoe and  addiction? lol.. I tend to stick to the basics and accessorize with a longer jacket, purse, and shoes :). How about you?

With this in mind,  I wanted to pass on a few tips to all of the "short waisted girls " -

*Wear the same color on top and bottom  - this will give the illusion that your body is  all "one length",

* Always strive to wear the "lower waisted" pants versus higher waisted pants.  (although you have to watch the undies, lol), but this will give your torso a longer look.  My husband is always telling me to "pull" up my pants, but I always pull them down, because I feel as though it helps to elongate my torso! :)

* If you are like me, and tend to stick with the "basics" when it comes to shirts, but accessorize with a longer jacket, shoes, etc,,  go ahead and think outside of your box...  wear a "vertical" pattern. Similar to the  "monochromatic" color scheme (same color of shirt and pants), it too will help you appear to look LONGER! :)

* And of course, wear the 3-5 inch heels,  besides feeling just sexier,  YOU WILL LOOK TALLER!!  - it is amazing how much that my "torso" has grown when I wear heels.", imagine that?  Kind of like Cinderalla at the Ball  - but once I take the "glass slippers" off, the magic disappears. lol - nah, it isn't that bad... lol..  I love wearing heels :). Plus I just feel more confident and that I can take on anything that comes my way. :)

I hope that these little secrets  helped yah! I am so excited, as one of my goals this year is to help all of you  look like a million dollars -  no matter what shape you are! :) So stay tuned! I just found a Webinar Program and am working on it -- so I can conduct "Style on the Catwalk" :) .. This is just  a taste as to to what to look forward to in our future webinars! :)

Chow Bella! See yah on the Catwalk!
xoxo

Merci!

Are you a trend follower or setter?

I love looking at fashion mags and you all know that I am addicted to fashion "facebook fan pages".. I just cannot get enough!  Free People, Vogue, AGaci, Fendi, and local boutiques.. love to see what is new and what the trends are.. kind of like opening up a gift, and can't wait to see what is inside.

Even though we all want what is "hot" and "now",  why not be a trend setter.... what I mean by this is that yes, we can still have what is in style but why not add your own personal taste to it?  Maybe add an old pearl necklace or bracelet, a cool old purse ( I used to have my Grandma's crocodile purse - unique), a classic "Polo Ralph Lauren" tote.. just something that is different and is "your" signature.. and mix it with "new trend". I can guarantee someone will ask... wear did you get that bag? lol

Vintage is always fun too, and there are times when I do a little bit of "website boutiqueing".  If you google  "vintage" and see the images, you can get some really great ideas as to how to mix and match the old with the new.  On a Saturday afternoon, why not visit a Salvation Army or Cosignment Shop? You never know what you just might find!

Keep looking and signing up to receive fashion updates and on line magazines, because even though you might not buy it, you can put these ideas into your "fashion portfolio".

Finally, if you want to be chic and be a "trend setter".. , don't over do it with new trends. .  aka  - wearing everything that is "IN" from your head to your toes..  Never look "too perfect", break it up with  that funky bracelet , or classic piece..  If you don't have any pieces, costume jewelry to the rescue! Example -  I bought a really cool BIG cameo ring and get so many compliments on it.. but it is a piece that I can wear with ANYTHING, is a classic, but at the same time pops out - only cost me $2.50.  When I shop for pieces, purses, shoes, I think "Ok, what stands out and says "I am unique", not BOLD, but will look cool with everything.. Try it, it can be fun! ;)

Fashion should be fun, ever changing, but still have a little bit of you in it! :)

The Fashion Gods have spoken girls,,  do you have a signature fashion piece that makes a statement about you?  One of mine is a pair of $1.99 Peace Sign Dangly Earrings; I wear them almost every day, lol, you have probably seen me wear them in my videos!

xoxo

Glamour tip for the holiday:)

When it comes to the holidays, do you find yourself applying the same color on those lips?

How about pink?  Although pink is a girl's best friend, there are times when I want to wear pink on my lips, but don't know if it is too "barbie looking"? But then again, wearing pink on my lips gives me a "feminine" moment of being girlee! :)

Here are a few tips of of how to wear the right shade... of pink... so you can look sexy, classic, and maybe catch the attention of your "Ken's" eyes:

First, pink can be a very flattering shade as long as it the color matches your gums! :) "In Syle" Magazine recommends that when choosing a shade of pink, to make sure that it is NOT any  lighter then your gums. Another tip, use a "natural color" lip liner pencil and use a good quality lip brush to paint the lipstick on and you will have beautiful lips with staying power. Finally, for an extra sexy pout... dab a bit of gloss in the middle of the upper and lower lip and you are good to go! :)

Now go out there and give your Ken a big old smooochhh!

Merci!

Indulge in a little luxury during the holiday season for only $10 bucks!

Bon Jour Mademoiselles!  Wow!  The holiday season is quickly approaching upon us and it can be such a whirlwind.. As much as we all love the "spirit" of this special time of year, it can be stressful; having to shell out cash for a new smashing outfit(s) for the parties, buying gifts, traveling, etc.. (but you have to admit, deep down, we like it! :) . But sometimes we need to treat ourselves with all of the hustle and bustle - and we can't always afford to keep spending - but oooohh what the magic of  a new nail polish color and costume jewelry will do for a girl!

I went back to MI for the weekend for a Baptism and went shopping with my Mom, Sis, and Niece.  As we were looking around, I really fell in love with many "cocktail/holiday dresses", and wish that I had somewhere to wear these.  But we don't really go to any fancy parties, so that idea was out the window.  Then I went to "The Icing" (A sister store of Claire's Boutique), it was fun to look at the glitzy jewelry, accessories, and NAIL POLISH!  Yep, nail polish ---  I used to have so many colors, but over the years, I haven't "treated" my nails to such luxury, because of all of the cleaning, etc.. it can be a waste of time. lol.  But, I must say, that I FELL in love with many colors and thought, how fun!   I felt like I was "dressing up" my nails and and my hands! I even bought one of those beautiful Big Rings with gold/rhinestones at Forever 21 for $4.99~

So,,,, here is the color that I purchased -(although the pic is Chanel, I purchased the same color but it is an "ICING" Brand). Girls,  I must tell you, this nail polish is EXCELLENT!  This particular "ICING" nail polish compares and feels like an OPI brand. But, the cost is only $4.80 and they had some beautiful colors on clearance...

I must tell you  that I feel very chic wearing this color and with my ring,, it was beautiful.  It really makes me feel like it is a "Winter - Celebration" and my big old ring is like a snowflake on my hand. Sometimes the little things in life and  the inexpensive things can make the biggest difference - you can get a little lift and it only costs $10 bucks!

Step outside of your box, try something different - It is only Nail Polish! :)  What color do you want to try?

Merci!

Anklet Socks for Fall 2010.. off the runway! Shoe #1

 Rhianna.... love her style!

The Anklet sock!!! I remember when these were in style when I was 10 (yeah, about 32 years ago! :)lol. My sister had a pair of anklet socks to wear with her "Candies' (from the movie Grease, remember?). But when I was looking at my In Style Magazine, I fell in LOVE with the new look of the anklet and will scan the pic so you can see why!

What I have found is that there are many ways to wear this sock, and when I was on our little vaca in San Fran this weekend, the anklet sock found me! :).. and of all places..at the "American Apparel" shop. I will show you in my vid tomorrow the look and give you some tips of how to wear the anklets to give you a "balanced chic/classic look".. if "the bad kitty" look isn't your vibe. lol..But you have to admit, that it is kind of fun to try something different! Let me tell yah, my hubby thought that my new find was just.. ohhh, sooo sexy. lol..

As I was conducting my fashion research on google, here are some ideas that I found for all of you fashion goddesses out there; and some looks might me dramatic for you, but it can give you ideas.. and when I share my vid with you tomorrow, you will see how these looks can look for you in a fun and practical way!
Look #1.. The Classic Sexy Look

The lace does wonders!! This would look great with a pair of rolled up jeans, skinny or a boys cut.  I would keep everything simple and basic because the lace makes such as statement.. Am thinking maybe a white, gray, or black T with boyfriend jacket/blazer.. and Pearls?  Or  so sexy in a "pencil" skirt or a long plaid skirt, or even a little black flowing chiffon skirt.  The main key is to mix up the texture and pattern a little, to make it fun, classy, and not to over do it with the "Koochie Mama" look :). If you are going to pull of these anklets/shoes, you can't wear a low neck tight fitting shirt or a mini skirt that is up to your thong, lol..  (granted if you did not have the anklets on, you could, lol!)

If you look at Rhianna, see how she softens up the look with a feminine and classy look?

What is soo cool about these shoes is that if you live in a climate that eventually you look kind of weird wearing open toe shoes,  platforms, etc, during the fall, well now you can get much more wear out of your shoes!

***I must warn you that this shoe is extremely hot for Fall!***

Stay tuned for my vid and I will share more with you on my blog of how to wear the gladiator and boot with anklets too! :)

Have fun with socks! Opaques are the best too :) Cant wait to show my "glitter" socks tomorrow.

Hope that you all enjoyed..  And what an economical way to spruce up your Fall Wardrobe:)

xoxo Merci!
